What a damn journey.

Saigon to Tokyo to Washington, D.C., back to Tokyo to Saigon, to Singapore, to Beijing,

back to Singapore, to Saigon.

Not on one direct, non-stop, unrested, take no break journey. But that's my damn flight schedule

in the last four weeks. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Most recently, just returning from Beijing,

always the experience to go to mainland. Always a little bit

of a pain in the ass, though, having to use a VPN, a virtual private network to get out there

and collect my email and get on Twitter and Facebook and all this stuff. And I'm not even sure

if it's

legal or illegal. What are the rules? Does anyone know off the top of their head?

When you are in mainland China, what are the rules? Someone please inform me for us Americans or

whoever, non-Chinese, to go to the mainland, is it okay to use a VPN?

I'm pretty sure for Chinese it's not okay. And I'm not trying to do anything subversive.

Just trying to check my damn email. But before I get into, I think a little bit of an interesting

perspective that I gained from one Chinese guy in particular.
