Summary

Today I sit down with Todd Mayo owner of one of the coolest concert venues in the world.

Years ago a friend sent me a YouTube clip of The Chris Robinson Brotherhood playing at

one of the most insane venues I had ever seen. It looked like the band was playing on Mars.

I had never seen this venue so I dug in and did some research and found out it was called The Caverns, located in Grundy County Tennessee.

This venue was created by my guest Todd Mayo and it quickly became a destination venue.

Everyone has played there including Chris Stapleton, Lucinda Williams, Billy Strings and more.

There are a handful of absolute magical venues in the world, Red Rocks, The Gorge, Hollywood Bowl, The Sphere and now The Caverns.

Todd Sits down with me for an In-Depth conversation on exactly how this place came to be.

Not only has Todd created one of the coolest venues in the world he also created an Emmy Award winning TV show on PBS called The Cavern Sessions.

Todd has a book coming out in Sept called Caveman Chronicles that I can honestly say is a must read.

0:51.8	I saw the caverns and I said I must do my special there and it's happening and a lot of it has to do with this man right here

1:11.5	And we did hatch this, that very first conversation about a month ago. You were interviewing me for the book on the podcast, Caveman Chronicles coming out next month, and then we just started talking, you said,
1:24.4	God, dude, I've seen music there.
1:26.5	I'm taping a TV special, but you know,
1:30.0	I'd love to do it at the cave.
1:31.8	I said, well, bring it on. I'd love to have you. And so, you know, in a way that things sometimes come together, the caverns is a space for music. You know, we've been doing it since 2008, but I've always wanted it to be a home for comedians and not only televised, but also coming and playing the room.
1:53.6	It lends itself to that and how wonderful that you're going to be christening the caverns
2:00.3	in the first comedy show taped for television your own special and Bill
2:06.4	there and everything about it it's just it's wonderful and I think it's you know
2:11.3	it's sort of the perfect christening or Big Bang for the caverns in terms of comedy.
