Hey guys. Welcome to Not Another Anxiety Show. I'm your host, Kelly Walker, and today I'll be sharing an exercise recommended by psychologist Christopher Willard.

0:23.3

So this exercise is particularly helpful when you notice an urge to engage in an unhelpful habit.

0:30.5

Now, every human alive has an unhelpful habit or two.

0:34.9

And chances are, if we struggle with anxiety, we probably engage in some less than stellar

0:40.0

1:43.9

than helpful, physical, or

1:45.6

mental habit like we're in, remember the acronym HALT. So that's the exercise here.

1:51.9

The idea of HALT is it's just a simple way to check in to see whether or not our basic needs

1:57.6

are being met. So here we go, halt.

2:02.9

The H.

2:04.4

Are you hungry?

2:06.7

Need I say more?

2:07.8

We all know how we get when we're hangary.

2:10.9

Andy once tried to tell me that hangary is not a legitimate emotion and no excuse to get testy.
