Blue Gal? That's right. One year ago today, we launched No Fair Remembering Stuff, which, by the way,

is the third podcast in our burgeoning professional left media empire. We're huge. We're big.

We're big in Indiana.

We're huge in Indiana.

The task we gave ourselves back then a year ago was to do what almost no other political or media podcasts do, but which movie and TV and literature podcasts do all the time.

We wanted to look back at that which came before and give it context.

And I looked through our notes, and one of the examples we used from an entire year ago was the

movie Boogie Nights, which we emphasized did not spring fully formed as a finished product

from the mind of Paul Thomas Anderson.

It came into being as a result of a whole bunch of factors.

His genius.

His teenage obsession with pornography.

The influence of all the directors he admired and copied from.

Plus the willingness of a studio to actually green light it, which was wild.

Plus the traumatic experience he had with his previous film called Hard 8, which is a very good movie.

Plus, the availability of all these amazing actors all starting to rise at the same time.

Plus, plus, plus, plus, plus.

There were a whole bunch of factors that went into making that movie, the amazing movie.

It was.
