Last April, I completely severed my ACL

while backcountry snowboarding outside of Valdez, Alaska.

My ski partner was well below me and at a sight when I heard it snap. A few

minutes later he radioed up to me and asked if I was okay. The transmission came

through loud and

clear on my rocky talkie that was clipped to the left shoulder strap on the outside of my pack.
