Welcome, Modern War listeners. This is Captain Jake Moraldi.

We apologize for the long hiatus over the past month or so,

but we've been busy here at the Modern War Institute winding down the academic year at West Point.

That said, we're looking forward to a busy summer of training with cadets,

writing blogs and op-eds, and, of course, doing the podcast.

This summer we'll be talking to, we're working to get our podcast back to a once-a-week

podcast, though it may end up being a once every other week, depending on the availability

of our guests.

This summer, we'll continue interviewing key policy folks, as well as key thinkers in the strategy and security fields, including MWI's new adjunct scholars, folks like Andrew Bacievich, Dave Johnson, Lieutenant General Dan Bolger, and a whole bunch more.

We'll also be working on some thematic podcasts, focusing on megacities as well as A2AD,

and then also looking at tying some of our more conceptual work here at the podcast to a ground-level view from captains, lieutenants,

and tactical-level folks actually executing some of the policy things we've talked about so far.

This time on the podcast, we'll be talking to Major DJ Skelton, West Point Class of 2003.

As a lieutenant, he suffered a number of serious injuries at infantry platoon leader during the Second Battle of Fallujah.

We'll talk to him about training as a second lieutenant, preparing to go to Iraq, how he was

wounded, and how he's handled his recoveries. For our interview with Major Skelton, MWI's

Major John Spencer will be doing the interviewing.
