Welcome back for another episode of Reality Life with KKC.

I've wanted to cover the disappearance of Emanuela or Lundy for some time.

I first learned about her story in the Netflix docu series, Vatican Girl, the disappearance

of Emanuela or Lundy, late last year.

The story haunted me, a girl from a family with five children, just like mine, four girls

and one boy.

I thought often of Emanuela's brother Pietro, who has been tireless and is pursued

for the truth behind her disappearance, and his mother who has waited every day for

news of her daughter.

Last week, I was in my daughter's classroom and spoke to one of her teachers, an Italian

from Milan.

What do you think of Emanuela or Lundy's disappearance, I asked her, which set forth

the conversation about a 15-year-old in the Vatican amidst busy first graders and their

parents?

It was like a gentle reminder, follow the story, say her name, tell her story, and I want

to do so today.

The disappearance of Emanuela, who has not been seen by her family since leaving her

home within Vatican City, where her father was a lay employee in the people household,

for a flute lesson in Rome, has gripped Italy for four decades.

It starts with a local girl going missing in Rome in 1983, but then spirals into one involving

the KGB and the Cold War politics.
