So let's start with a repetition of our disclaimer. We are not health care policy professionals. However, like most of you, we live through the many battles

of the Affordable Care Act in real time, and without the ACA, we would not have health insurance,

and would have faced the medical and financial disasters that have bankrupted so many American families.

In part one, we discussed the struggles to make universal health coverage for all Americans a political reality,

from Teddy Roosevelt to Mitt Romney.

In 2006, Romney was the Republican governor of the Blue State of Massachusetts.

The Bay State was facing a health care crisis, and Governor Romney and the Democratic legislature

dealt with a widespread lack of health insurance by signing Romney care into law.

By 2012, Romney was the candidate of a Republican Party, which was single-mindedly focused on sabotaging the Obama administration.

And the centerpiece of their strategy was destroying Obamacare by any means necessary.

So let's talk about Barack Obama.

Yeah, you know, we from Illinois, especially from Springfield, just hate talking about Barack Obama, but I suppose we're going to have to do it.

So almost, well, almost to this day on February 10, 2007, just about two miles from where we're recording this very podcast, at the old state capital building in Springfield, Illinois, Barack Obama announced that he was

going to run for president. Now, this is the same location where Abraham Lincoln had delivered
