Okay. Today, Cut and Retie is doing current events, which I haven't yet, really.

I haven't devoted an entire episode to something newsy, if you will, in the fishing world,

because frankly, I haven't had anything really come across my desk that I felt the need to devote an entire episode too,

or at least that I was able to cover in a way that also feels like me, like my style.

But then, not very long ago,

the controversy over LiveScope, aka Forward Facing Sonar, came across my desk kind of unexpectedly,

right? So I write for outdoor life and their editor asked me if I'd pen a feature after the organizer

of a pretty big bass tournament in Texas

rocked the fishing world by outlawing the use of this technology on tournament day.

Now, forward-facing sonar was always a hot topic since it's been around, right?

But to my eye and ear, that decision to ban it turned it into a full-blown shit show.

Okay?

And no matter where you fish or what you fish for, it's pretty tough to deny that this tech is both the most amazing and troubling thing to hit the fishing scene in our lifetime.
