Hi, everybody, Tom Woods here. We're talking some U.S. history today and some current events.

We're looking back at an important election in American history in terms of party realignment,

or let's say the redefinition of the Republican Party under the candidacy of William Jennings-Bryant.

So the 1896 election, we're going to talk about a little bit, see if it bears any resemblance to today because we are hearing that kind of comparison because of the Donald Trump candidacy and the turmoil in the Republican Party caused by that.

So we're going to look at that episode.

We're also going to talk about Zachary Taylor because of a recent Politico article trying to compare the

collapse of the Whig Party to what's going on in 2016. So I thought I would talk to Brian McClanahan,

who of course has been a guest numerous times in the past. He's a faculty member at My Liberty Classroom.com.
