Sometime in late 2001 or early 2002, I announced to the online world that was following me at the time, and I had a blog that

had been up for about five years. I announced that I was writing a book, and in my mind,

it was as if Jim Collins had called out the B-Hag, the big, hairy, audacious goal. I announced that I was writing the book,

which thus meant I must do the book. I created an only option situation for me. The only

option, write the book. Now, you're talking about a guy who had never above a sea in English

in college and really had

no writing experience other than five years of a blog, but that still wasn't exactly book

writing experience. At the time, the best thing I could think to do was to hire a ghost writer.

So I took all the writings that I had, all of the ideas that I had, and I hired a ghostwriter. So I took all the writings that I had, all the ideas that I had,

or I don't know, 10 months or so. At the end of 10 months, what was delivered was not what I

imagined, not what I could ever see being a book. At that moment

in time, the big, hairy, audacious goal, the B-Hag went into overdrive, because now I've already

announced that I'm going to do this book, and now I don't have a book. So at that moment

in time, you learn how to write really fast.

Because if you don't, you fail.

But right at the same time, this ghost-ridden first draft that ended up becoming nothing of my first book trend following,
