host Toledo, the defending Mac champs for 630 kickoff on Big Ten Network, under the lights,

in prime time.

And one of the more interesting matchups in the Big Ten during the opening week outside

of the few conference games that are actually happening.

But Toledo, the defending Mac champs, got some momentum, got some hype in this offseason,

got some votes in all these polls.

Illinois coming off its best season in 15 years.

This is an interesting game.

It's spread minus 9 Illinois right now.

So we're expecting maybe some competitiveness in this game.

Will we see that?

I'm going to go over five things I'm looking foremost in this game later on in this podcast.

But before we do that, we're going to get some insight on the Toledo Rockets,

the former program led by Tim Beckman, the former program led by

better, Matt Campbell, who's done a pretty good job at Iowa State, maybe waited too long

to make his move up, but still a really good coach, but I digress.

Jason Candle has been leading that program since Matt Campbell left.

He's had some ups.

He's had some downs, but this seems to be one of the ups of his program,

entering his eighth season at Toledo coming off a Mac championship and a bowl win over Liberty.

And Hugh Freeze at that time. So now Candle, who I've had on Illinois coaching list, never thought
