the Jewish holiday that celebrates the triumph of Jews in the ancient Persian Empire over Haman,

someone who tried to kill him, in part because the last episode of the re-education had such a long monologue.

There will be no formal monologue on this one, and we'll go straight to the conversation.

My guest is the great Rabbi Ari Lam, the official rabbi of the re-education podcast, and it is a great conversation.

the chief rabbi of the reeducation podcast, Ari Lam.

Anyway, the topic of the day show is we like to get into the geopolitics and Ari is.

Rabbi Lamb is in a unique position here because he does have that Princeton PhD and can give us not just the religious context, but also the

historical context, what we know. So let's, we're here to talk today about the holiday that we is upon

us, Porum, but I kind of want to demystify it. Let's let's do a little level setting. First of all, Porum is this one of the few holidays in Judaism where you're just allowed to get plastered, right?

That is definitely one approach and a prevalent and as you can imagine popular one, that's for sure.

And it's seen as kind of like a fun time because they're the noise makersemakers, there's special cookies called Humantosh, and it's a festive thing, like the Jews,

you know, escaped a horrible fate. So, you know, I want to try to cut through some of that

because it's a serious time as well. And it's about the politics you could argue of diaspora. So let's first of all talk

about Jews in the ancient Persian Empire and what that's what that means because this is after the
