I know you released an online PDF first as a beta test which got a lot of traction, but I've

always wanted to know if you just started writing it without an advance and then

got a publisher's attention once the digital PDF picked up stream?

Or did you have to pitch the idea to publishers first before you even got started?

This is a great question. I had a very circuitous way to become an author. I often call it being a bit of an accidental author. So I had sort of my big epiphany for myself when I had spent years and years trying to set rules for myself trying to like I was looking around my life and I was like I need to drink less. I didn't really think about stopping drinking. I was definitely much more of the opinion that I just needed to drink less, but I didn't necessarily, I didn't think that it was going to be hard is the truth. I just thought if you're gonna I've been drinking more I can drink less it shouldn't be hard. I didn't

assume that alcohol had its hooks in me in the way it did so when I decided I was going to drink less, what really kicked off was a very long period in my life

of setting rules for myself and breaking those rules.

And so those rules would sound like,

no drinks still Thursday or Friday night.

Or I am only going to drink beer because I really like red wine and if I just drink beer I'm not going to drink as much of it. Or you know, I'm only going to drink two glasses of wine no matter what and I'm going to like lock the rest of it away.

And I could sustain those rules like I could take little breaks.

But the problem was that every time I would take those breaks out,

actually feel more miserable.

Then when I was just drinking and waking up, hung over

and having that sort of regret, like I would feel like I was deprived,
