Let's jump right in to the heart of the matter, the confusion of trend following.

Trend following at its core is something very straightforward.

I would dare call the concept as written down simple.

But understanding, having it deep in your bones.

It takes a little time.

You have to digest a little. You have to know something outside of trading to it.

Perhaps helps to know a little bit about the work of Daniel Conneman, for example.

But trend following is very straightforward.

Now in the academic circles, they call this time series momentum, which is very different

than cross-sectional momentum.

Now, I already sound academic out of the gate.

I'm not trying to, but this is what some people call these things.

Trend following time series momentum, relative strength, cross-sectional momentum.

Very, very different strategies, except that there's a

momentum component. But they're not the same at all. Time series momentum is trend following.

I think they invented the term time series momentum because yours truly had co-opted the term trend

following and if they used trend following well damn they'd be given me free publicity for the last

decade so i think they invented this time series momentum but look time series momentum that's not as
