I think it's hugely important, you're touched on one of the aspects of a good theological

understanding of work.

I think this conversation is really important because there's also two huge misunderstandings,

almost false theologies that we can assume about work.

The first is that we use work to somehow validate our existence.

This is a cultural understanding of work in a space of what people call expressive individualism,

which is the idea that we need to authenticate ourselves, define ourselves, create our own

purpose in life.

Some people will put an expectation on work that like, my work is how I prove I am worthy

or valuable.

And that's why a lot of younger generations that accept expressive individualism, they

feel driven where it's like certain work is not validating enough.

Like it's not okay to serve chicken sandwiches, but it is.

Or like somehow, you think about like the co-worker in the 1920s, they weren't sitting

there swinging a hammer at co-thinking to myself, I want to do something with purpose

in life.

No, their work was valuable because it helped them provide.

And so in that sense, like our work does not validate us.

The fact that we are created by a God is the thing that will bring us value.

And then the other misunderstanding is that only some work is sacred work.

So a few minutes ago, before the broadcast started here, I had what is perhaps the worst

cramp pain I have ever had in my neck, shoulder area.
