| 0:30.0 | Athronomycast episode 628 the Sun revisited. Welcome to astronomycast or weekly facts based journey through the cosmos where you help you understand not only what we do. |
| 1:00.0 | We know but how we know what we know. I'm Fraser Kane, publisher of university today with me as always is Dr Pamela Kay, a senior scientist for the planetary science institute and the director of Cosmic Quest. Hey Pamela how you doing? |
| 1:12.0 | I am doing well enough. I am currently trying to cut back on caffeine and wow this is going to be a caffeine light episode everyone you are warned. |
| 1:24.0 | We need to warn everybody that you are dangerously under caffeinated today. That could have serious consequences. |
| 1:36.0 | If it seems like I am sort of having to boost your awake again every now and then it is fine. It will get over this. |
| 1:54.0 | I think you have always had so much coffee flowing in your system. Yeah, I am definitely one of those people that when the doctor asks how much coffee do you drink? |
| 2:08.0 | I think if I say two it means pots not cups and I got better for a while so that I was down to like 60 ounces of coffee a day. |
| 2:26.0 | I drink about a third of that. I drink two cups of coffee a day. That is crazy. |
| 2:40.0 | I was only having three cups but they were 20 ounce cups. I realized over Christmas that because I was so acclimated I had to go up to 5-20 ounce cups a day to have it really taken effect at which point the anxiety kicks in. |
| 3:02.0 | In the hot air when we live in no one needs added anxiety so I am back to 20 ounces of coffee a day and regretting all my life choices. |
| 3:14.0 | That is not enough. This is madness. We will see how you do. |
| 3:20.0 | Once again it is time to take a look at the sun. You know that ongoing thermonuclear explosion of fusing hydrogen that is right over there. Fortunately there is a fleet of spacecraft and ground observatories ready to give us our best view of the sun so we can watch it. |
| 3:36.0 | The sun again we covered this on our tour of the solar system a thousand episodes ago almost. |
| 3:52.0 | We are within various air balls. When my hyperbole lines up with reality we know there is a problem. |
| 4:06.0 | We are going to stick to the new ish stuff. Obviously we know the sun, the sun, the sun, the sun, the sun and the sun. |
| 4:26.0 | The thing that got me the most prepping for today's episode is when we first started the show and first did that tour through the solar system. |
| 4:38.0 | Everyone was like okay so for decades we thought there was a solar neutrino problem and we think we might have figured it out. |
| 4:46.0 | Maybe the neutrinos are changing flavors and this could explain it. Nowadays they don't even mention the solar neutrino problem because yeah. |
| 4:56.0 | It's not a problem. |
| 4:58.0 | The neutrinos have identity crises on a regular basis and just oscillate their variety to whatever suits them at the moment. The sun is giving off all the neutrinos that is supposed to and then many of those neutrinos are deciding to become a different kind of a neutrino. |
| 5:22.0 | We are going to call this the solar neutrino thing, the solar neutrino reality. |
