Welcome to the Gritty Podcast. I am your host, Brian Call, and I'm joined today by my brother,

the Gritty Brom and how are you, Brent? I'm well. Thank you. Right on. So today, we're going to

resume our series that we started with the River of Doubt, Theodore Roosevelt, going on a

harrowing expedition down the Amazon River. It's a wild and crazy story where after Theodore Roosevelt

was no longer president of the United States, a little bit older and age, he decides to go on a

death-defying expedition that others attempt to do in following years and are never heard or seen

from again. They encounter native people that are very dangerous. They go through the river.

And so far in this series, we've brought you along and now it's getting to the point where Theodore

is and the expedition is getting ready to get into the Amazon River and actually in their floating

down. And we kind of set the stage for you, what it was like just to get to this point, how

dangerous it's been, how many people have we painted a terrifying picture and it's just get to get

worse from here on out completely. And for those that have been following and enjoying these kind

of book reviews and discussions, we got more coming up. We really enjoy doing these. I think it

provides great education. It gets people interested in books and many of you wrote in and said that

you went and got the book or got the audio book and listened to it. And I think that's great.

It's still fun to listen to other people that it's sort of like a book club anyway. So we're

going to resume that with a few podcasts. We're going to finish out this book. We got another book

that I'm really excited to get into that I've been working on reading is Three Felonies a Day,

How the Feds Target the Innocent. I got this from Jack Carr, X Navy SEAL and author of The New
