Summary

Sometimes Tsh and co-host Stephanie unintentionally make it sound like they never deal with travel concerns, health issues, or challenges. Nope—they still deal with them. They're normal moms, after all. In this episode, they answer some of YOUR questions about how they handle fear of the unknown, food or other allergies, medical issues and illnesses, and other unforeseen challenges from the road. They share stories of stitches in Rwanda, chipped teeth in Turkey, swimmer's ear in Thailand, and more. For show notes, head to http://thesimpleshow.com and look for episode 62.

It's The Simple Show. You've got episode 62.

0:05.0

Hi, I'm Tish Oxenwriter and on The Simple Show. We talk about books, travel, and life at home.

0:10.1

In this episode, I'm joined by my co-host Stephanie Langford. Hello, Stephanie. Hello, Tish. It's so good to be back again.

0:17.1

Stephanie, tell us who you are and what you do. I am an entrepreneur and a writer and a mom of

0:21.8

five and I live in Ottawa, Canada. You can find me online at intraFamily.com. And I'm a writer and

0:27.7

mom living in central Texas and I'm at theartisanple.net. This is a travel episode. So we're going to

0:33.4

answer your questions. You've left us some great ones recently. So many, in fact, that there's

0:39.3

no way we're going to get to them all. But we're also going to focus on the most popular topics,

0:44.9

which are safety, health, and how to travel when you can't work from just anywhere.

0:50.1

Right. So, Stephanie, I love that we got so many questions because it shows that people genuinely are interested in family travel, which just makes my heart sing.

1:00.4

You know, these aren't people that are just saying that's so great to hear you guys talk back and forth about it, but it's not for me.

1:05.7

So I think there's a lot of people who genuinely want to travel with their kids, which is awesome. And you're about to travel,

1:13.5

right? I mean, how's that going? It's surreal. We leave a week from today. So it's good.

1:20.7

I mean, yesterday we really made sure that everybody's bags are completely packed. And even all of our,

1:27.3

you know, our toiletries and all of

1:28.9

that stuff. We've got our day packs packed up now too. I finished putting together our homeschooling

1:34.1

stuff. I mean, like it's for real. This morning I was photocopying passports and birth certificate.

1:39.7

So I'm like, wow, we're really going so soon. I just can't believe it. That's so fun. That's the the fun jittery stage. And I know you're going to Central America. So for what, three months? Is that how long? Yeah. Yeah. It's basically, it's like just a smidge under three months. Okay. And you've been writing about it, like especially the packing stuff, which I love that you're doing that because we got a number of questions about packing. And we're not really going to address that in this episode. I think we might, you know, we've already had an episode on packing light, which I'll put in the show notes. But we might have to do a follow-up one on even more packing. But for those listening who really want us to address packing in this episode, I'm going to put your recent packing posts in the show notes so people can read. And, you know, if you have future questions about packing, you can always get a little more specific and we'll do our best to answer because I know that's a big deal for people. But this is so exciting, Stephanie. I'm really excited, I don't know, just the thought of you guys hitting the road again.

2:36.1

It feels like, oh, the Langford's are doing what they do best, you know? Yeah, I mean, we're all kind of giddy about it. And I think it just feels, you know, you've talked a bit this year about like, oh, we just want to get back on the road. it feels like we've been home too long, and that's sort of how we've been feeling.

2:52.3

So I think everybody's just a little like, oh, we just want to get back on the road. It feels like we've been home too long. And that's sort of how we've been feeling.

3:07.9

So I think everybody's just a little like, woohoo, it's time, it's time. Let's go. Are your kids just, are they the same way? Yeah, yeah. They're all really pumped about it. Like they're trying to do a few last, you know, playdates with friends and things like that. but nobody's really sad about it.

3:09.8

They're all just like, when do we go?
