As I said, today we're going to talk about the guiding principles that every leader that I respect and admire incorporates not only into their lives, but also into their businesses. And the first principle is integrity.

Integrity is the highest core value that we have at my company as well. Our motto is we do what's right even if it hurts. Now integrity is what you do when no one is looking. It's standing up for the underdog. It's speaking up instead of being silent when something really needs to be said. It's doing what's right, not what's easy.

Leadership is also about having a vision or a purpose and being able to translate that vision or purpose to your team. Now the purpose is almost always about adding value to something or someone.

The most successful leaders on the planet are the ones that add the most value. The most successful leaders I know also operate from a set of core values or principles that they create with their team.

So they come up with these core values, like I said, with their team as a guiding light to run their companies. Now in my business, our core values align with the word family.

The F in the word family stands for family and fun because we are a family and we have fun changing lives. The A in family stands for being authentic. With my team, you know what you've got.

Being genuine means being the best version of ourselves. Now the M in family stands for massive action. Why? Because everything amazing in life requires massive freaking action, right?

That and because we are impacting thousands of lives to become the best version of ourselves in my company. Now the I stands for integrity, which I just spoke about.

Now as I said, that's actually our number one core value. The L stands for love. We love what we do and we do it with love. As I said, we're changing lives every day. What's not to love, right?

The Y in family is for yes to evolution. We're doing everything we can to constantly improve every aspect of what we do through evolution and innovation.

The best leaders are also planners. They live by the adage fail to plan, plan to fail. So they create a plan for their business and then they work that plan.

The best leaders also look to incorporate making the world a better place with their companies and their team by having a positive impact. They're not just in the business to make money.

Making a positive impact in the multi-family business could just be providing safe, affordable, clean housing for people. Or you could be bigger than that, helping the elderly or children or the environment or animals or whatever juices the leader in their team.

Another quality that I see in all leaders is resilience. A leader recognizes that setbacks are just feedback. When they have a setback or a failure, they adjust their approach on their path to ultimate success.

A leader has that grit and resolve and focuses on their ultimate outcome. When they have a setback, they just change their approach and keep pushing forward.
