Ladies and gentlemen, before we begin the evidence in this case, I want to discuss a little bit with you what this trial is about. It's the morning of Monday, February 23rd,

1998. It's been nearly two years since Hangnor was murdered.

Prosecutor Craig Humm is giving his opening statement in the trial of Jason Chan, Tachshun Tan, and Injalim, also known as Cloudy, Rambo and Solo. The trial wasn't taped so actors will be reading transcripts.

I'm Craig Hum. I'm the prosecutor in this case. I'm Steve Schoenfeld.

And I'm Joy Wollinsky.

We're lawyers for the accused.

The three defendants are charged with robbery and first-degree murder.

They've been held without bail for the past two years.

What this trial is about is the murder of Dr. Hangnor, a man who survived incredible

brutality and hardship in his native country of Cambodia,

only to come to Los Angeles and be murdered

by this defendant and his two fellow gangbangers for his watch

and his necklace. In his opening statement,

prosecutor Hum dramatically describes the incredible true story of Hang Noor's life.

Dr. Noor was tortured on three separate occasions, one time having part of his finger cut off.

It was a time of incredible hardship and brutality.

One day, Dr. Norr and his wife discovered they were going to have a baby, but things

don't always work out like we planned. She needed a doctor and Dr. Noor was beside himself. While Dr. Noor was beside himself.

While Dr. Noor watched helplessly,

his wife and their unborn child died.
