Today we're going to be talking about light skin privilege and colorism.

And this is actually going to be a response to an episode of MTV's Decoded with Francesca Ramsey.

Yeah, it's been a while since we did one of those.

And this response actually was requested by someone who sent me the

But before we get into it, some of you at this point

might be wondering, what the heck is colorism,

because that's not a term that we hear all too often.

Well, to explain colorism and how it differs from racism,

allow me to present to you this clip from a different episode of MTV Decoded

that focuses on color

racism in the Latin X community specifically. Racism involves discrimination based on things such as skin color,

but it's also dependent on power dynamics that become

perpetuated by years of structural oppression.
