Summary

A target is something you aim for, an objective that you want to reach. A target is something that will provide a sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, and satisfaction when you hit it.
Napoleon Hill said, "Set your target and keep trying until you reach it." Whatever target you aim for, it needs to be specific, realistic, and meaningful. Are your efforts producing bull's eyes? If not, you need to work on your aim and refine your shot.

| 2:10.0 | Today I want to talk about the power that comes from having a target. So what do I mean by target? I mean something that you aim for an outcome an objective that you want to reach. Now a good definition of a target is something that will provide a sense of accomplishment for you or fulfillment and satisfaction when you hit it. |
| 2:39.0 | Napoleon Hill said set your target and keep trying until you reach it. Now this might sound overly simplistic but it's the essence of success really in one sentence. It's so important to have a target to aim for because it'll help you stay focused. It'll help you eliminate distractions and it'll ensure that you achieve your desired outcome. |
| 2:58.0 | Whatever target you aim for it needs to be specific. It also needs to be realistic and it needs to be meaningful. Now I want to talk about each of these for just a minute. |
| 3:08.0 | So specific your target can be anything really and you want your target to be concrete and not vague. Now if you're for example targeting your weight make it very specific down to the exact pound. |
| 3:20.0 | You're targeting your monthly income target. Get specific down to the dollar. Having a rock solid target that you aim for is the key to hitting it. Now I used to have a sign above my bed that said $100,000 a month net cash flow. Now I've eclipsed that so now I've added a zero and tiffy hates it up there above our bed but it's up there because I know it works and it's a specific target. |
| 3:41.0 | Then you must be realistic. Now what do I mean by realistic? Your target can be as large as you want but you have to believe you can hit it. You can't hit a target that you haven't seen or visualized. |
| 3:51.0 | So your concrete target gives you that something to aim for and it also serves as your compass on how to get there but you have to see it clearly. |
| 3:59.0 | You need to physically set your eyes on it or visualize that target and I've talked a lot about visualization if you listen to me at all and you know that it's your ability to see the outcome in your mind's eye clearly and with emotion. |
| 4:12.0 | You also have to make your target meaningful. A target needs to be something that's important to you. It can be anything from a workout goal to closing your next deal. |
| 4:21.0 | Now I personally like to attach a wide of my targets by attaching a Y that you have to hit that target and Y failure is not an option. You lock it in as a certainty. |
| 4:31.0 | Another action tip I want to give you is to write it down. Remember that writing it down helps keep those targets clear in your mind and keeps you encouraged along the way. |
| 4:41.0 | In our companies we write down our quarterly targets. We call them rocks and you can do that too in your personal life. |
| 4:48.0 | Make sure you write down what you're aiming for so you can have it top of mind on a daily basis. |
| 4:53.0 | Now if you don't have a target and you just shoot aimlessly day after day, most likely nothing much positive is going to come out of those shots, right? |
| 5:00.0 | Busy work for the sake of just working as a fast track to burn out. |
| 5:04.0 | Now when you set specific targets and aim for those specific targets, you're going to accomplish more than you can possibly imagine. |
| 5:11.0 | And listen, the act of targeting is not to get bogged down to the weeds of the details but to define an endpoint. |
