Summary

We had the chance to visit San Juan Capistrano and the mission there, as well as the Los Rios Historic District in April 2025. The historic district still hosts three original adobe homes, along with quaint shops and distinctive eateries. Much of the mission is in ruins today, but the colorful gardens, swallows and beautiful interior of the Serra Chapel make this a mission not to be missed. And the main downtown of San Juan Capistrano has its bits of history alongside modern businesses. All of these areas have their ghosts. Join us for the history and hauntings of San Juan Capistrano! 0:55.7	I'm your host, Diane. And this is Kelly. Kelly, on this episode, it's a location that we just got done
1:01.4	visiting. We sure did. We went to San Juan Capistrano and we saw Mission San Juan Capistrano.
1:08.3	Yes, we did. I've been there a few times as a young child and adult, but you had never been to a California mission. So I thought, what better time than when we were visiting my dad for his 90th?
1:20.0	Exactly. And like you said, you saw it as a child. I'd read that every kid who goes to school in Southern California. Yeah. It's one of your field trips.
1:29.7	So if I'd continue to live there after the age of six, I probably would have been going there too.
1:34.2	I'm sure you would have. So I just had to wait until I was 53. So gorgeous. It's springtime and
1:39.2	everything was in bloom. There were flowers everywhere. Butterflies. We saw some swallows, of course. And I've seen
1:46.2	lots of missions in Texas, but I'd never seen one in California. So this was my first taste of a
1:51.4	Californian mission. It's very cool. And as we were looking around San Juan Capistrano, we found out,
1:57.5	hey, it's not just the mission that's haunted. There's a lot of locations that are
2:00.9	haunted, and we saw a lot of those as well over in the Los Rios district. So we're going to bring all
2:06.0	of that to you guys on this episode. Before we do that, we want to welcome into the Sputacular
