Hope that you're having a great end of the year week.

And did you watch the Kennedy Center Honors this week?

It's the greatest.

The Kennedy Center Honors are honors given to those in the performing arts

for their lifetime of contributions to American culture.

This is above and beyond the Oscars.

They've been presented annually since 1978.

It culminates each December in a gala celebrating five honorees

in the Kennedy Center Opera House in DC.

This is basically your lifetime achievement awards in the arts.

So it's singers and composers and actors.

And I look forward to it every single year

because once they are given the award,

it culminates in this presentation at the Opera Center.

And you have all of these people that are in each of their lives.

Walk of life, performing for them, honoring them,

giving speeches for them.

It's an act of reverence which always makes me cry

because you're also as a viewer playing back your own life.

And so many of these artists have been part of your own memories.
