Today, let's talk about the power that comes from being flexible. So what do I mean by that? I mean, yes, you need to know exactly what it is you want,

but you have to allow yourself to be flexible without you're going to get it right now. A lot of people think it's a straight line from where you are to that ultimate goal or vision and I'm here to tell you it definitely is not.

You know, because so many times people can have a goal or a vision and then they end up not achieving it because they didn't like the path they were on or the path shifted and they didn't like that path.

Now having flexibility helps you to be open to new approaches and new ideas flexibility allows you to think differently flexibility allows you to turn on a dime and make adjustments when you need to.

Now in this fast paced digital world that we live in now your ability to be flexible is critical. Now when you get locked into one approach, you also often miss opportunities to improve and grow.

Now in my organization, we're constantly looking for ways to improve our processes and and how we, you know, help our clients and we've got after action meetings and we discussed new approaches and ideas and this process is called can I constant and never ending improvement.

Now every member on my team gets to give input on ways to improve and how to fix certain issues and how to serve our clients better and some of the ideas are hard to hear sometimes because they require changing things.

But the benefits almost always outweigh the effort. Now know this and I know you know this changes the only constant in life and we've seen some unprecedented change in our economy and in our world and frankly in our lives recently.

Now you're a leader and as a leader flexibility is critical to your continued success no matter what business you're in.

Now it's been my experience that the most successful people on the planet are the ones that can accept and adapt to constant change.

So it takes a large dose of flexibility sometimes along with some humility to become adaptable to change. Now when COVID hit last year we all had to be flexible and adapt.

I had to instantly go to live stream virtual boot camps instead of my live in person events and even sometimes when we get bad news we have to be flexible and adapt.

About 10 years ago I had a business you know that was struggling and it didn't look like it was going to survive and almost had to bankrupt it and it literally came down to adapt or die.

I had to innovate and be super flexible so I you know I innovated I pivoted I adjusted and I improvised and instead of bankrupting it became a 10 million dollar company with 60 employees.

The lesson here is don't give up be flexible and adapt to the marketplace and the market conditions and when you get right down to it flexibility is freedom.

People get stuck when they allow themselves to fall into analysis paralysis you know where they're being so rigid that they have to have complete understanding of the entire journey before they get started and frankly that's like being in jail and they never take action.

When you allow yourself to be flexible in the different situations the life puts in front of you your life is just so much easier.

Now let's be clear about something though being flexible doesn't mean being ineffective and a great analogy to flexibility is to point out to you that water is probably the most flexible thing there is and the most adaptable yet it can carve out a canyon and it can drill holes through metal.

So like Charles Darwin said it's not the strongest or the most intelligent will survive but those who can best manage change in other words you've got to be flexible to survive and to win.

Now so far I've talked about your mental flexibility but your physical flexibility is just as important the same ideas apply you know nobody wants to be muscle bound and inflexible either mentally or physically and you know the dichotomy is that with flexibility you actually get stability.
