| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome once again to my time capsule. |
| 0:13.6 | My name's Mike Fenton-Stevens, and my time capsule is a podcast where people tell me five things from their life they wish they had in a time capsule, |
| 0:21.6 | four things they cherish and one thing they'd like to bury and forget. Now, I was wondering who |
| 0:26.7 | to have on as a guest in this episode of my time capsule when the name Edison occurred to me. |
| 0:32.1 | In fact, it was a bit of a light bulb moment. So I got in touch with the Snow's Comedy Star 2022 winner Daniel Edison, |
| 0:39.3 | an inventor of one-liners and quickfire puns. As a stand-up comedian, Daniel has performed |
| 0:45.1 | at many prestigious clubs and theatres around the UK and has appeared on TV and radio, |
| 0:50.4 | including the latest series of Britain's Got Talent, where Simon Cowell described his |
| 0:54.8 | actor so bad it was really funny. Which is sort of what one-liners are, isn't it? Despite |
| 1:01.0 | being buzzed by two of the judges, Daniel persevered and won the panel over, being voted |
| 1:06.1 | through to the next round. Now that takes some courage, isn't it? And that's the sort of determination you |
| 1:11.7 | need to make it as a one-line comedian. And even if you don't know Daniel, there's a chance you've |
| 1:16.7 | heard one of his jokes. Daniel has supported Russell Kane and Catherine Ryan. He's built a fan base |
| 1:22.5 | of thousands of followers on ex, formerly Twitter, or in fact still Twitter to me, by regularly sharing his |
| 1:29.1 | original one-liners, several of which have gone viral and been featured in such publications |
| 1:34.3 | as The Reader's Digest, Funny or Die, The Polk, and Many More. |
| 1:39.0 | One of Daniel's recent jokes featured in the Independence's top ten jokes of 2023. |
| 1:49.2 | It was the word gouge, G-O-U-G-E, used to be spelled G-O-U-I-G-E, until somebody took an eye out. You see what I mean? So, inspired by the great |
| 1:57.4 | Tim Vine and following in the footsteps of Mark Simmons, two previous guests on this podcast, Daniel is on the way to being one of the best and most prolific joke writers out there. |
| 2:07.6 | So let's see what's led him to this point by asking him to put five things in a time capsule. |
| 2:13.7 | Here is Daniel Edison. |
| 2:35.2 | Hi, Daniel. Hello. Hello, how are you? Great, thank you. Good. How you do? Yeah, where are you? Down in, you live in Portsmouth, do you come from there? I do, yes, I live in Portsmouth. Lovely. So, how's it going? You're getting lots of reaction to Britain's got talent? Yeah, it's been very surreal. |
