Later this month, assassinated Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will be laid to rest

at the state funeral that comes months after his death.

You may remember Abe was shot in July, which is kind of weird they're waiting this long.

I don't know.

The emperor may be next to his funeral right around the corner.

I don't have a real answer for why they're waiting so long, but in completely unrelated

news, Vice President Kamala Harris will lead the U.S. delegation to the funeral in conjunction

with her visit to South Korea on September 25th.

Now, clearly Kamala Harris isn't worth holding up a fast food drive-through for, so you're

not going to do that for a state funeral for a foreign leader.

But the timing is interesting.

As is the White House's statement on the delegation saying, quote, her visit to the

legacy of Prime Minister Abe and underscore the importance of his leadership championing

the alliance between the United States and Japan.

Yeah, they used Kamala importance and leadership in the same sentence, which has to be some

violation of language code.

That's like Korean Jean-Pierre.

It's got that written all over it.

portions of her planned remarks at the funeral, which I will do now.
