0:43.9 | as far as active shooter. |
0:45.7 | You know, everyday carry, everyday mobility, turnickets, mindset, you know, basically everything |
0:52.7 | that Field Crafts Revival preaches and talks about. |
0:56.3 | These modern survival seminars are fantastic ways to interact with folks that follow us and are interested in about what we're doing. |
1:04.3 | And the cool thing is, is you know, we walk away knowing that people are better prepared and, you know, have a glimpse, I think, or a look inside of the mindset of what guys that serve in special operations, you know, |
1:18.7 | Mike and I from our perspective and how to better train yourself, your family, the mindset required to be able to understand all of that and then tie it into your training and how important it is. |
1:29.7 | So super grateful of being able to work here in the great state of Texas. |
1:34.7 | I'm excited today because we have a special guest on the podcast. |
1:38.7 | Her name is Elizabeth Reigns and she is a mental health counselor with a focus in trauma and attachment. Hi, Elizabeth. |
1:46.7 | Yeah, no problem. So I'm excited about this. I just want to kind of do a little lead in. |
1:54.7 | And so during this survival seminar, I talk about relatively, I don't know if you would describe it as traumatic, but you probably would say that it was a traumatic experience. |
2:03.7 | And I actually talk about stress and I talk about how it affects you in a sense of decision making capability. |
2:12.7 | When you're put into a situation, one that's, you know, a life threatening situation. And so mine in particular wasn't was a direct hit by an improvised explosive device and I rack early on in my career. |
2:25.7 | And, you know, I kind of talk through and pick through that situation that happened to me, you know, almost 15 years ago. And I still, you know, I was describing how I remember it like it was yesterday. |
2:39.7 | And so it was interesting. I got a chance to talk to Elizabeth on one of our breaks. And she had mentioned some different, some different therapies and things like that that she's worked with recently with folks who have experienced traumatic events. |
2:55.7 | And so I'm excited to talk to her about a bunch of this stuff because there is somewhat of a stigma. I think with veterans and combat veterans and people who, you know, have post-traumatic stress disorder and different things going on. |
3:11.7 | And there's a stigma that follows them that somehow they're defective or that they can't be productive members of society. And I think that's not true. I think that, you know, a realistic way to approach all of this is that you cannot send your sons and daughters to do fighting on your behalf and then have an expectation that they would come home and be the same people. |
3:35.7 | And it just doesn't work that way. And it doesn't work that way for first responders. It doesn't work that way for soldiers. When you see some pretty graphic, horrific stuff. And when you experience things that most humans don't experience, it has a profound effect on you. And some people, you know, for a lot of different reasons, and we'll get into a lot of that with Elizabeth. |
3:54.7 | You know, it affects people more than others. You know, I feel like at this point in my life, based off of the things that I've seen in combat and been involved in, you know, that I'm doing fairly well in pretty productive member of society. |
