Summary

Meirion Jones has had a strange feeling about Jimmy Savile for some time and he thinks he may have a way to probe further. When Savile dies, Meirion teams up with Liz MacKean to try and get to the truth.

This is how Liz and Meirion pulled together the pieces - in an attempt to finally bring Savile’s crimes to light.

0:12.1	Liz was anxious, sat behind a wheel of the car. This was her first project working with
0:17.7	long-time newsnight producer Myrian Jones, and she hadn't quite worked him out
0:21.9	yet. My first story with Myrian, I mean to say the wheels almost came off is an understatement.
0:29.7	We were chasing a paedophile priest in Surrey. We had been told that this particular priest
0:36.1	had been released from prison and was being sheltered by the church.
0:41.2	That's Myrian. He wasn't too sure about Liz. She'd arrived at News night after presenting BBC Breakfast News.

0:52.2	Initially, I was quite prejudiced because she was a presenter and I thought
0:57.0	a presenter's gobs on sticks. And I didn't expect her to be any good as a reporter, a digger, etc.
1:06.5	Suddenly, a man looking just like the priest they were searching for, appeared in front of them,
1:11.7	got into his car and pulled away.
1:14.6	Liz reacted immediately.
1:16.4	Liz did a screaming U-turn and set off in pursuit of him.
1:21.5	We got to the church that this priest was driving to, got out and started asking him to check on camera if he was
1:30.0	the paedophile priest.
1:34.0	He wasn't.
1:35.8	It turned up we were chasing across the Surrey countryside, an entirely different father,
1:41.7	who then subsequently complained.
1:50.0	It was one of my first stories on news nights and I was mortified to be involved in this complaint, but it had been a rush of blood to the head.
1:52.0	That was my first proper story with Myrian.
