Hey rockers, today's guest is singer, guitarist, producer, and songwriting extraordinary

Butch Walker.

Butch and I jump into the deep end and dissect the 1998 hit single

freak of the week from one of Buch's previous bands the Marvelous 3.

Taken from their 1998 record called Hey Album

Freak of the Week rose to number five on the modern rock radio charts,

and solidified Butch as a songwriting force to be reckoned with.

From there he cultivated a successful solo career and shot to superstard him writing songs for some of the biggest names in pop music.

Butch and I talk about musical imperfections within a song and how those

beautiful mistakes can really add an authentic human emotion to a track.

We talk about a number of his musical influences and how each and every one of them bled into

this particular song.

And I recall the story to Butch, how he completely earned my respect and admiration as a songwriter,

when we sat down together to pen a song some years ago.
