In general, for most of my life, I've actually been an extremely optimistic guy.

But today I have what I think is a very painful prediction for 2022 and beyond.

And in some ways, it's not so much a prediction because I already see it underway.

But I want to prepare you for it and help you see it and understand it.

We are about to enter into a new era, a painful new era of mass incarceration.

In fact, it's already underway and it's happening right under your nose.

And if you ever wondered how it felt to be in the era of mass incarceration in the late

70s and early 80s into the early 90s, it feels just like it does today.

Jails are overflowing.

Prisons again are starting to get crowded and there are even states across the country

starting to talk again about building new jails, new prisons for more people.

It is happening this way for a lot of reasons just like it was in the 70s and 80s.

When we saw the explosion of mass incarceration all the way through the crime bill of the

1990s, a lot of local black politicians, again, I probably recommend at this book 50
