Hello again and welcome to my time capsule. I'm Mike Fenton-Stevens. My Time Capsule is a podcast where people tell me five things from their life they wish they had in a time capsule.

They pick four things they love and one thing they'd like to bury and forget.

And my guest in this episode is the actor Bill Fellows.

Or for those who've known him since he was young, and they were too, Billy Fellows.

Bill has been in nearly everything over the years since our first and last

appearance together in a comedy show called Comedy Wathleth, which introduced the world to the

rising star Paul Merton. He's well known for having played Stu Carpenter in Coronation Street

for three years and as the football coach George Cartrick in the brilliant Ted Lassow.

But he's also been in, for example, and this is just a selection,

Smoggy Queens, The Reckoning, this time with Alan Partridge, Father Brown, The Five, The Witcher,

Vera, Harriet's Army, Broad Church, Wolfblood, Waterloo Road, Hunderby, Landgirls, Downton Abbey, Inspector George Gently, Waking the Dead, Doctors, Nine Episodes of Doctors as nine different characters,

Dream Team, Holby City and Casualty, only eight different episodes as eight different characters.

And that's just his TV work.

He's from Middlesbrough, and as you'll hear, is devoted to acting,

although like many people, he'd rather have liked to have been a pop star.

Something he may still manage.

Who knows?

It's only 68, after all.

So here is the delightful Bill Fellows.

Yeah, let's have a go with it. Fantastic, there we are. So we've known each other a long time. Well, we have. In that strange way, as we've known each other, but we don't hardly ever see each other. We hardly see each other. And also, I don't think we've ever worked together since comedy wavelength. Wow, it, it's such a... And we were both trying to work out when it was. And I remember, obviously, Johnny... Is it Josie Lawrence? Joe's it in it? And obviously, Paul Merton, it was... He was called Paul was something else. Yeah, well, I think it was called something else. But I still can't work out when that was.
