Summary

This week, Barb and Michelle dive into the sensitive and sometimes tricky topic of breakups…friendship breakups! It’s common for us to discuss overcoming heartbreak in romantic relationships, but what can we do to move on and heal from an estranged friendship? Barb and Michelle share vulnerable stories and examples from their lives on lessons learned from friendship breakups, and more! Follow us @MichelleMaros and @Peaceful_Barb and share your experiences with us @BarbKnowsBestPod or at www.michellemaros.com/podcast.

Episode Notes:

  • Loyalty is a feeling of understanding and grace rather than an action. It’s a person being present in the moment with you.
  • Being your own best friend leads to healthy friendships all around you.

Helpful lessons that we have learned from friendships breakups:

  1. Friendships do not need to last forever to be meaningful, impactful or loving.
  2. Human beings are never stagnant. We are always changing, growing, and evolving. Relationships change as you do.
  3. We never really know what other people’s life experiences are like, which means that we can never fully understand why some people act the way that they do.
  4. Sometimes the most loving act we can do for someone is give them space and grace.
  5. It's okay to set boundaries with people that you love.

me for our conversations lately to talk about this that has happened to us and I think it's really up for a lot of people.

Me too. So let's get into it.

Love it.

1:12.0

Great. So I wanted to bring up the topic of

1:15.4

friendships because I know we've discussed a lot of family stuff, a lot of

1:19.7

other relationship kind of stuff, but the topic of friendship I think is an interesting

1:26.1

one to discuss because there tends to be a lot of societal rules and pressures about how to be a quote unquote good friend, what a friendship

1:39.0

is supposed to look like, how it appears on the surface level, and then like how it appears on the surface level and then like how I guess they're supposed to

1:45.6

feel around friends and I just think it's a really interesting topic to

1:50.3

dissect because at least from my experience I've had a really interesting road

1:56.0

with friendships that have always made me question like my own likeability and

2:02.0

ability to be like a real friend and have gone through a lot of friendship

2:08.2

breakups and I just think it's a good conversation to be had.

2:13.6

I love it.

2:14.6

We've had a couple of, well many, but a couple really deep conversations online

2:20.7

through DMs and things like that with people that asked us to talk about friendship
