By any measure, Eric Holder is a historic figure.

A career prosecutor has held a number of important positions and played a role in a number

of important cases.

But he'll best be remembered as the first African American Attorney General of the United

States, and a very consequential Attorney General on issues of civil rights and liberties,

security, and on a range of issues that define our times.

In addition to all that, he's an alumnus of my high school, Stiferson High School, in

New York, which gives him a special status.

I sat down with General Holder the other day on his visit to the University of Chicago Institute

of Politics.

And here's that conversation.

Eric Holder, you and I have led somewhat parallel lives in that we both grew up in New York,

City in the 1960s.

We're both graduates of the same high school.

Greatest high school in the world.

Stiferson High School.

Yes.
