Hey, everybody, we're talking about the gold standard today. Somebody sent me an article from Think

Progress, the left wing site, critical of Ted Cruz for remarks he made in the last GOP presidential debate.

Now, it doesn't matter if you're a fan of Ted Cruz or not. That's obviously not the point.

The point is we want to talk about the heresy hunters over at Think Progress and what their arguments are against the gold standard, because they're very conventional, they're not particularly good, but they are the sort of things that might trip some people up, so we want to deal with it. And I brought on two big guns to talk about this with me. Of course, we're going to be linking to the article on the show notes page today. But we're bringing on here Joe Salerno,

who is academic vice president of the Mises Institute. He's the author of the book Money, Sound

and Unsound. He's been a professor of economics at Pace University for many years. He's also the

John V. Denson Professor of Economics at Auburn University. And also joining us is

Professor Jeff Herbiner, who's chairman of the Department of Economics at Grove City College

and Associate Editor of the Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics. He's also a senior

for supporting what sounds like the gold standard, at least something like the gold standard,

and he's being attacked by Think Progress.

And the attack is really kind of low-brow, but yet they're the type of arguments that could stump a beginner.
