This afternoon I'd like to continue the discussion and practice of the Meta meditation.

And just as a reminder, it's really a very simple quality of wishing well for people.

The most simple expression of it is, may you be happy.

And it's not wanting anything back, it's not in exchange for anything.

It's just the development of that capacity for well wishing.

And it has a lot of different nuances in terms of the feeling.

manifest this feeling and then we'll get into the practice a little bit and just talk about, you know, some different styles or ways of cultivating this quality.

So these are just a few poems and writings. The first one is called Shoulders and it's by the Palestinian American poet Naomi Schiabnai.
