| 0:22.7 | And I guess I want to kick it off, Nat, by asking you something that a lot of people have asked us either through questions on our social media or just when we've been, you know, in different scenarios. |
| 0:32.2 | People are fascinated about the creativity and the work that goes with that, particularly when it comes to like |
| 0:40.0 | your songwriting and your lyrics and people are like, how do you write those songs? |
| 0:44.6 | I mean, I sit and listen on like the way that the lyrics come and the way that you weave |
| 0:50.2 | together the truth of scripture into something that you deliver the way you do. |
| 0:53.6 | But I know as your friend that that's not something that you find the easiest. It's a journey, right? Absolutely. And, you know, even when I hear you say that, I sometimes still don't consider myself like a songwriter. I'm like, well, I write some songs. But I'm not like one of those professional songwriters. But honestly, I think everyone's got a |
| 1:11.1 | different creative process, and all of us have a different way of getting out of us what God |
| 1:17.4 | puts into us. For me, I guess the first thing was just being willing to do it. And I think that |
| 1:24.0 | songwriting is so risky. I mean, it really is. It's like you're basically, okay, is this going to be terrible to say? But did you ever have that dream when you were a kid that he would show up naked to school? But you didn't realize you didn't have any clothes on until you got there. Am I the only one that had that weird dream? Like over and over and over and over the only one and make feels so awkward right now. No, I'm not the only one. You're the only one. But that's kind of what I feel like songwriting is it's like so exposing because you're basically asking, you know, people to look at your creativity and your, and what you've made and say whether they like it or not. And it's so scary. And I think that for me, obviously, I'm married to a songwriter, and that's helpful because that person that I trust the most in the world, I can kind of, you know, bounce my ideas off of. And sometimes when he says he doesn't like them, I handle it well. And sometimes I'm like, shut up, what do you know? You don't know what you're talking about. But that could also be challenging because he is, like he is what you call a professional songwriter. He is a professional songwriter. So you've also had to deal with like not comparing the way that he handles his creativity with you. Absolutely. And we don't always do that so perfectly, but I do think that, |
| 2:35.9 | you know, through the years of being married, that we've found ways to communicate with one |
| 2:39.7 | another that actually helps to propel and grow one another instead of hinder each other. And that's |
| 2:45.0 | seriously such a blessing and a gift to have that available to me in my life. But, you know, obviously my process might look |
| 2:53.2 | different than the next songwriters. But I know that a lot of people often wonder, how do you |
| 2:59.2 | write your songs? And for me, it's a little bit different because I don't just, like, wake up |
| 3:04.9 | and say, I'm going to write a song today. It typically happens through |
| 3:08.3 | like inspiration. And I think it's funny because I have napkins or motion sickness bags from the |
