I really wanted to highlight the main facts of the case, including the evidence that the police had and the key investigative lines of inquiry up until Marilyn Moore's attack in December 1977.

Another victim lay undiscovered on wasteland in Bradford.

A woman who died here ten days before Helen Whitker. Her name was Ivonne Pierson.

She had gone missing from her home in Bradford in January 1978.

Her decomposed body turned up under a set E two months later on Easter Sunday.

Missy Spirson's death was the most violent of the series up to that point.

The skull was stovied. Whatever had been used it was not a hammer.

There were no stamp wounds of the chest, but on the other hand there were bruising injuries to both the chest and trunk which extended in the chest.

Could have been somebody dropped kneeling on the chest. Could have been somebody stamping on the chest.

But as I say, these were serious injuries, not just serious head injuries, but the full weight of the assailant had been used in some way from the neck down as well.

21-year-old Ivonne Pierson was reported missing on the 21st of January 1978.

Now Ivonne was mother to two children, and she had left her two children in the care of a 16-year-old neighbor to go and earn some money.
