This is Abby Martin. This is a disclaimer to say that psychedelic drugs do not universally work the same for everybody.

They can cause psychosis at high enough doses, and they can be life-changing in ways that are not always intended or desired.

Psychedelics should be used responsibly and with extreme caution.

You become aware of yourself as a glowing thread in a tapestry and all those, you know, cliches.

But they, the cliches are based on real experience and real feeling, the real sensations.

And they don't mean anything unless you, unless they have an influence on what you do with your life.

Welcome back to Media Roots Radio, our ongoing series on psychedelics,

preliminarily titled Media Roots Radio on Psychedelics.

We never actually came up with the title for our series,

so we're going to go with that for now, which is fine.

But we are now up to our fifth installment of this ongoing series, and we still have at least a couple more installments in the chamber.

So I don't know.

How do you feel about it, Abby?

I mean, we already kind of commented on the feedback we got.

It seems like there's been a lot of people this has really clicked with.

We even got some interesting feedback last night where a lot of people were, I think, understandably turned off to psychedelics as a whole.

It seemed like a lot of people who didn't really try them or experiment with them before were just enormously turned off by the CIA association with LSD,

trying to separate that in their mind.

So I think we've brought up a lot of interesting points that people have had time to chew over.

And we're going to bring up a lot more stuff in this.

And I'm actually in a lot of ways really excited about this episode in particular

because I feel like this might be some history that's actually the most obscure that we're going to tell about basically the drug war, and a story that I don't think anybody really knows about.
