My name is Anne Macklehaney and I'm an investigative journalist.

I've covered a lot of strange and disturbing stories in my career. From baby trafficking in Indonesia to a gruesome murder in Dublin, to a child abandoned in Romania by a wealthy Canadian couple.

But I've never covered a story like the case of Philadelphia's

Dr. Kermit Baron Gosnell. He's America's most prolific serial killer and you've probably

never heard of him. This podcast is a story of an almost

40-year killing spree by a medical doctor who carried out his crimes in plain sight.

In the previous episodes we heard how investigators heard

that Gosnell was killing patients and murdering babies. We also heard how he

was carrying out his crimes in a filthy clinic where he allowed

unqualified employees to give dangerous drugs to patients. And Gosnell was also a

major supplier of opioids through selling fake prescriptions for drug dealers.

It's also the story of how, for reasons of politics and race, those who were supposed to

stop him looked the other way.

Episode 5, he got away with it for decades.
