Summary

Fossils offer some of the best evidence of how diverse various branches of the tree of life once were. They help us understand speciation and extinction as well as biogeography. Dr. Steve Manchester has spent much of his career using fossilized seeds to understand the ancient histories of flowering plants such as the walnut family (Juglandaceae). Join us as we explore the ins and outs of a career looking at plant fossils and learn what kinds of stories they can tell. Joining us to talk about this is Dr. Steve Manchester, who has spent much of his career looking

at fossilized seeds and what they can tell us about different plant families, both extinct

and extant. His work takes him all over the world and gives him a really cool perspective on biogeography.

And above all else, it's just fascinating to get a look behind the scenes of how people like Dr. Manchester think and work.

It's really cool it goes into trying to understand fossilized plants.

So I don't want to keep it from it any longer. Let's just jump right into it.
