Summary

Mark and Jimmy join Ryan Muckenhirn, Ian Klemm and Adam Maxwell for some good old fashioned American show and tell. This time to the tune of WW2(ish) era rifles. This era in firearms has to be one of the most exciting, as powers from across the world called on their most intelligent minds to create better weaponry in order to outgun their opponents. Firearms we discuss in this podcast include Ian's "Cigarette rifle" - a sporterized Mauser 98 chambered in a cartridge you wouldn't expect, Adam's Springfield 1903 bolt action rifle, Mark's single shot US Army .45-70 1873, Jimmy's Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk 1*, Ryan's M1 Garand and the backup gun, a .22 LR replica of an STG 44. As we've said many times, if you like hunting, shooting, competing in shooting sports, or anything else involving guns, we'd have a hard time believing you don't think these things and their history are cool. Check this out and by all means - if you hear anything we missed or have any interesting pieces to add about any of these firearms or firearms of your own, shout them out! As always - let us know if there are any topics you'd like covered on the Vortex Nation podcast by asking us on any one of our social media platforms and using #VortexNationPodcast..

0:38.3

They're manufacturing and engineering feats and it's fun to marvel at marvel at them you know as much as some people will say you know hey I got this gun

0:48.1

It's just a tool. I'm just gonna use it. I don't know. I just I can't imagine anybody out there who couldn't look back at

0:55.8

some of these these interesting firearms in history and not just think man that's

0:59.8

cool and so we've sort of narrowed our sights this time on some older firearms.

1:08.0

Originally we were saying amongst ourselves, oh, what if we got like kind of all World War II firearms, you know, you'll find that we're not exactly

1:15.4

sticking strictly to World War II here as we go on.

1:18.2

But some interesting firearms from around that time period and as Ryan Muckenhurn here called it the what

1:25.4

you call it the glory days or what was it the when times were better

1:29.6

that pre cell phone

1:33.2

phone we'll get into that one thing I should mention is that on the table in front of me and if you're watching on YouTube you'll see it we have if you ever watch top gear and they go on these trips, and, you know, each host will pick a car

1:46.3

that they're, you know, in love with for whatever reason for usually, you know, a thousand

1:50.1

quid, they say, oh, Brits. You know know they have to travel across some country or whatever and

1:55.9

inevitably one of them breaks down and gets all been out of shape well they have a

1:59.1

backup car and it's always like the worst car ever that everybody hates.

2:02.1

Well I brought a backup gun and I'm always like the worst car ever that everybody hates.

2:03.0

Well, I brought a backup gun and I'm not saying that everybody hates this gun,

2:06.8

but if you look at it from afar, you would say,
