Anderson Cooper is one of the most unusual guys in television news.

He hosts the AC360 program on CNN.

He's a correspondent for 60 Minutes.

He's an intrepid reporter who always turns up in war zones at the scene of disasters and

so on and seems to thrive on that kind of reporting.

And yet also very introverted and not someone who is very revealing of himself at least in

his broadcast.

But he's also the son of Gloria Vanderbilt.

And together they've just come out with a book of conversations between them called The

Rainbow Comes and Goes, a mother and son on life, love and loss.

That is one of the most revealing and compelling books that I've read in a long time.

And at a chance to sit down with Anderson the other day and ask him to reconcile all of

these different aspects of his life.

Anderson, one of the things that strikes me about you is you're a very unlikely sort of

television personality.

I mean, I know you're a journalist, but you're also a personality.

But you're very introspective.

You don't really have that personality.

You don't inject your personality into.
