0:40.0	Every year, I'm a little surprised when our spring book preview rolls around in January,
0:44.7	because this time of year feels early and decidedly not like spring in my corner of the world,
0:49.5	especially so this year, as my street has been covered in ice and snow for a couple of weeks now.
0:54.3	We could really call it winter preview. That would be fair, because we're talking books
0:58.3	published between January and the beginning of April. But around here, we err on the side of
1:02.9	optimism and we're calling it spring. And look, I know I've often said that summer reading season
1:08.0	is the most wonderful time of the year. But this spring, the titles
1:11.8	we're talking about today, make a strong case for being the best book time, at least as far as new
1:17.2	releases are concerned. If you love historical fiction, stories of new beginnings, and books
1:22.6	often described as book club books, you are in luck. Publishers lists are perennially heavy with such titles
1:29.0	between January and mid-April. If you gravitate toward these sorts of books, there is lots for you
1:33.7	to enjoy. But that's not all the spring has to offer. We've also got heaps of mysteries and thrillers,
1:39.3	love stories, literary fiction, and great nonfiction selections. Plus, so many books this time that defy
1:45.9	easy genre categorization, including some of my personal favorites for early 2025.
