The Olympics for my entire life have always been every four years.

But we live in a very different age, and the pandemic shut the Olympics down.

And so here we are, 2021, and the Olympics are in just about 80 days.

And I learned yesterday that the Olympics are banning not only any Black Lives Matter,

paraphernalia, clothing, or anything making a statement about Black Lives.

They are also banning Black Power Fizz taking a knee or anything close to it.

Let's talk about it. Let me unpack and explain it.

Yesterday, my daughter, Kendi, who is a college student, sent me the article talking about how

every athlete, every American athlete, who plans on participating in the Olympics, has received

very specific details on what they are allowed to say, what they are allowed to stand for,

what they are allowed to wear and represent.

And it was weird because it said like they can wear the NBA did something like this.

And the more I think about it, the more it bothers me.

It said the athletes can wear things that have very generic words on it like respect or peace.

Okay. All right. But it can't say Black Lives Matter.

It can't say Breonna Taylor. It can't say George Floyd.

It can't say defund the police. Like it can't make any statement other than the most generic

words imaginable. And let's just unpack Black Lives Matter for a moment.

Not the movement, just the phrase. Is it that dangerous to say that Black Lives Matter?

So what we're saying is that Black Lives Matter in the Olympics, they sure sell matter in the

100 meter dash. Right. Oh, Black Lives Matter. I bet they matter in the long jump.
