This is an interesting and challenging time for American conservatism because of the nature

of the presidential race and the presence of a Donald Trump, the fight with Ted Cruz.

It's really a definitional time, but someone who's going to have a big voice in those discussions

moving forward.

However, this election turns out as Arthur Brooks, the president of the American Enterprise

Institute, and the author of a new book called The Conservative Heart.

Arthur's a very, very interesting thinker.

I don't agree with him a lot on a lot of stuff, but I always enjoy talking with him and

listening to him because he has an interesting cut on the issues of our day.

He visited the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago the other day, and we had

a chance to sit down for a conversation.

It's good to see you again.

Last time I saw you, I think we were both at a Mitt Romney retreat in Utah.

I heard your presentation, and I'm still buzzing from, and we'll say, the God's

Honest truth is they told me you were going to speak, and then we were going to have a panel

discussion, and then Mitt stood up and said, Arthur Brooks is going to speak, and then David

Axler, I'd respond.

And I'm sitting there listening to your very, very entertaining and interesting presentation

thinking, I got nothing.
