Today we're going to talk about egalitarianism and calls for equality.

Equality in a material sense, not just equality before the law or any of these more modest calls for

equality, but the more sweeping calls for equality that we hear from the left. And in particular,

we want to talk about the political philosopher John Rawls, who is very significant,

and you'll get more background on him in just a minute. But these are arguments that I think

will help you when you confront people who want more equality or who believe that equality
