This week we're going to be talking about receiving inheritance.

You know, inheritance, adoption and inheritance, I think are themes again that are largely misunderstood.

I think when we tend to think of adoption, we tend to think of a little orphan who's very pathetic

and you know, you take pity on the orphan and then you adopt them, right?

And that's not really what the scriptures are talking about when they're talking about adoption.

I think there is that element also, okay?

I'm not going to say that that's not there at all.

But this is really contextual issue again where we have to understand that adoption today

works a little bit different than adoption did in the ancient world in the first century.

In the first century, adoption was really primarily for rich noble families of Roman households.

Okay.

So if you were a rich, if you were a Roman patrician, right, a noble of Rome, it was a patriarchal

society.

So you had to have a son that would be the heir, okay?

And that son would take over all of your states everything when you died.

But there's a problem.

What if, number one, what if you don't have any sons?
