Did you hear about the school shooting in Knoxville, Tennessee on Monday?

It's not what you think it is.

Let me unpack and explain it.

Like millions of Americans, on Monday, I heard about a school shooting in Knoxville, Tennessee.

I used to drive through Knoxville all the time when I both lived in Kentucky and lived in Atlanta.

To get from Kentucky to Atlanta, you would drive through Knoxville or Atlanta to Kentucky.

You would drive through.

It was always like the halfway point for us.

I have a lot of memories of stopping in Knoxville.

I've had friends and family actually who've lived there.

When I heard the news about the school shooting on Monday, my mind went where it always goes.

It's like, here we go again.

After the pandemic, not that we're actually after the pandemic, but at the, what I hope is the tail end of the pandemic,

kids are back in school, and of course, they're school shootings again.

Except what I'm learning is that what happened in Knoxville is not at all like we were told on Monday or Tuesday.

Or even yesterday that what happened there was actually all together different.

A young teenage boy, a young black teenager was shot and killed by police officers in what was never a school shooting.

And on the day of the shooting, it was reported that an officer was shot by the, the, the student.

We now have learned that that officer shot himself.

And it appears that after he shot himself, police then began, of course, because it was a black boy, began unloading on him.
